Twilight at the beach, Anderson Island

Her side:

Well, I was beginning to think he would never do it and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that .  I would drop hints every now and then, but really, I wanted him to do it when he was ready and he felt the time was right.  One thing was for sure - I wanted it to be a surprise.  I love surprises (as long as they are good surprises)!  Well, after four and half years of dating, he finally did it.

We were at the family Anderson Island cabin for the 4th of July.  We had gone down to the beach to light off our (lame) fireworks, but mostly to enjoy the neighbors' shows.  He was SO adament about getting the fire going in the firepit. I didn't understand why - it was cold, it was getting late and we weren't going to be down there much longer.  Any of you who know Brandon know that when he's bound and determined to do something, you better not question it.  So, whatever... get the stupid fire going - yea.  Ok, the fireworks are done and I'm thinking "can we go back up to the cabin now - it's cold!"  I gather up our stuff around the fire and turn around to find him down on one knee!  I think the first thing I said was "what are you doing?" (I may have repeated that about 5 times).  He popped the question and all I could say was "shut up!" "is this a joke" and "shut up!" about 20 more times.  He finally snapped me out of it by saying "Well???"  Of course I said yes!  I couldn't see the ring very well because it was dark and my eyes were full of tears, I just kept saying "is it sparkely? It looks sparkely. Is it sparkely?"  Brandon just laughed and said "yes, it's very sparkely."

Who knew he could be so romantic!  Obviously I was surprised and will definitely remember that night for the rest of my life.

His side:

I knew after about two years of dating Angie that she was the woman I was going to marry.  I just wanted to teach her a little patience .  When we decided that we were going to spend the 4th of July at the cabin, I knew this was going to be the time and the place I was going to ask her. I went to pick out the ring and spent over two hours with the salesperson picking out the perfect ring.  I didn't tell anyone I was asking her so it was sure to be a total surprise.

I knew what I wanted though - a fire in the firepit and fireworks in the sky.  I was nervous because the fire wouldn't start at first, but finally I got it going. I was quite a bit dissappointed in our personal fireworks and hoped it hadn't killed the mood too much.  Luckily, she has a sense of humor (which is one reason I was asking her to marry me!).  Finally, the time seemed right and I just got down on my knee and asked her.  I was in utter disbelief after being told to "shut up" repeatedly and was about to take the next ferry home without her, but I snapped her out of it.  She said yes and I was very happy!
